This
is a classic late 19 th century to early 20 th century Durham-Duplex
safety edge razor made by the Durham Razor Co. founded in New York. The company’s
innovative slotted blade was touted to be a major technological advance in shaving,
in contrast to traditional “cut throat” razors. The double-edged Duplex steel
razor blade could be re-sharpened, and was widely used during this time period
as a quality razor. It has a cream colored (Parisian ivory) celluloid handle,
when extended the razor is 8 ½” long. Maker's mark and logo appear on the silver swing out blade . Comes in it’s original blue celluloid case
with red metal swing cap, and tattered product page. This particular razor belonged to a gentleman born in 1868, who died in 1949. It was passed to our family by his daughter in the 1980s. In very good vintage condition. Closed
